Product Description
Scream is Ozzy Osbourne's first album in three years and 10th studio album overall. The album was produced by OZZY and Kevin Churko, both of whom did the same honors for OZZY's 2007 worldwide million-seller Black Rain, the album. The multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer recorded most of the album at his Los Angeles home studio, The Bunker, and co-wrote all the songs, primarily with Churko. Notably, the album marks the first appearance of OZZY's new guitar player, Gus G. OZZY's band also features bassist Blasko, drummer Tommy Clufetos and keyboardist Adam Wakeman.

1 out of 5 stars Mediocre at best   September 8, 2010

As a longtime Ozzy fan I am disappointed. It is a better release than Black Rain, but that's not saying anything. If this was from a new band, it would not go anywhere. The music lacks emotion and dynamics. Gus sounds to be a good guitarist, but for whatever reason, there seems to be nothing memorable or inspiring. The more notes, the better, right? The CD is nearly distorted on my system. Apparently, this is a good candidate for worst over-compressed, maxed-out, mixing and production - which becomes fatiguing to listen to ( unfortunately, seems to the norm in the music industry these days. See Wikipedia: Loudness War).

4 out of 5 stars Ozzy sounds dangerous and extravagant again!!   September 5, 2010
Nikiforos V. Skoumas (Athens Greece, Cambridge UK)
Brand new album from the godfather of Heavy Metal, one bearing major changes since the previous studio offering `Black Rain' of 2007. From the previous line up only bass player Blasko remains as guitarist Zakk Wylde parted ways with Ozzy after a 22 year partnership while drummer Mike Bordin also exited the line up to rejoin `Faith no More'. The new drummer was found in the face of Tommy Clufetos who played with Blasko in `Rob zombie', a truly remarkable player `notorious' for outrageous live performances who does bring back the 80's big drumming. Last came in the new axeman, the latest guitar hero heavy metal has produced Gus G. ("Firewind"). I have to say that the choice of Gus G. as the new axe man was a stretch of the imagination as Ozzy's known for choosing amongst newcomer guitarists while Gus had recorded over ten albums by 2009, having served as a full time member in five bands.

A year past the formation of this latest line-up finds Ozzy with the brand new album `Scream'. The material is arguably more diverse than on the previous album `Black Rain', the guitar leads/solos come in plenty, the drumming is much heavier/intense and Ozzy is louder than one would expect; all under the best ever production-courtesy of Kevin Churko (being also the main songwriter of `Scream').

It is true that while the album holds some exceptional songs in `Let it die', `Let me hear you scream', `Life won't wait' and `Diggin' me down' the rest of the material is not as consistent in terms of quality to those standout tracks. Beyond that, I feel that the `Ozzy Osbourne band' sounds as dangerous and unpredictable as it did in the early-mid 80s.

It is probably true that "Scream" is far from a perfect release yet it is capable of engaging the listener for a good amount of time; and, if nothing else, carries a new Ozzy classic in `Let me hear you scream'.

"Classic rock" UK magazine (issue 147) marks this album with 8/10 commenting: "An album sizzling with energy and renewed vitality"

"Metal Hammer" Greek magazine (issue 307) marks this album with 8/10 commenting: "A meaningful, focused and powerful album"

"Rock Hard" Greek magazine (issue 54) marks this album with 6,5/10 commenting: "Clearly superior to Down to earth and Black Rain"

By far this cd is the worst ozzy has done yet ! The lyrics are stupid and meaningless. This new guitar player sounds like he's playing the music that zakk wyld wrote for ozzy in the first place. I haven't disliked an ozzy album since zakk has been in the band. But theres a first time for everything. Don't buy this album, instead get B.L.S. Order of the Black and ozzy for godsake get zakk back before you kill your career !

5 out of 5 stars Ozzy's best in a long time   September 2, 2010

This is one of those albums that takes a few spins to really hook into you, once you get used to it it really starts to grab on, the song Soul Sucker by itself can make you forget that Zakk isnt playing on this, another great track is Digging me Down, even though it starts off slowly it builds up into a great riff....im really surprised at how many people dislike this album, in my opinion this is his best since No Rest For The Wicked. Most of ozzy's other albums have too much balladry on them, too many slow songs, not in the case of Scream, only 2 songs are slower ballad type songs, aside from that the rest to me is amazing, Latimers Mercy is another song that has a great hook. I've never really been a huge fan of ozzy's voice but musically its great. I would reccommend this album, give it a chance, you may have to spin it 3 or 4 times but it will catch on.

3 out of 5 stars disappointed!!   August 29, 2010

I rarely give less than a 5 star review, but extremely disappointed with Ozzy's new realease. Don't get me wrong. It has absolutey nothing to do with his band. They are obviously TOP NOTCH. Gus G is an amazing guitar player, and Rob Zombie's rythym section is amazing!! What pisses me off is that Ozzy doesn't write albums with the band anymore. I hate that he put's out corporate crap he writes with the producer. Diggin Me Down was the only song I liked. Had a nice Sabbath vibe. Sit down with Gus, Ozzy and write another Blizzard Of Ozz or Diary of a Madman!!! I guranatee he can do it!!!
